Thanks for the link, David. 'Tis where I grew up. Near where my
godmother used to live there is a fire hydrant known as the hydrant that
saved San Francisco (well, what was left). It still worked, and they
used it to stop the fire.
Somewhere, years ago, I saw these photos reproduced in a magazine. Nice
to see them again.
