What I mean is that you will never see adjacent pixels in any 1:1 scanned or direct captured image which are pure complementary colours or of extremely high contrast ratio. In other words a black to white transition over lets say 4 pixels (which is about as good as it gets) ends up either 3 pixels or 5 pixels depending on the where it lies in the corrected image.
