Yes, I see now it's not a cherry tom, it was quite small. I just made a shot in my garden of a larger green tomato. It was backlit and although I shot it colour using the *ist D I did do it at ISO3200 and I've simulated filtration and retained the "natural" image grain. I'm not suggesting it's a work of art but I think the greater contrast provides more to look at?
Yep, definitely. I can see that I shall have to think some more about lighting, too (which obviously also has a big effect on contrast). Tomatoes lit by off-camera flash, perhaps? :-) I'll have to wait a bit before the next tomato season over here though...
