It would appear that at this show (I'm still going through the pictures....lots of them!) I fully explored several things about the *istDS, the most notable of course, was its behavior under depleted batteries. My old habit of switching things on and off and squeezing every last milliampere out of the batteries got me through the end of the night. Of course, I ended up switching off instant review and scrimping charge wherever I could. To feed the archive, I should note that my battery life was a little over 1000 frames shot, with considerable use of the playback mode for reviewing & deleting after shows (sitting down later & deleting stuff that I didn't want to bother uploading), and a handful of flash shots. Hardly any autofocus, either. I was using the supplied lithium CR-V3 batteries. Presently, I'm using 2300 mAh NimH AA's, but they're brand new--I understand that their capacity needs to be "formed up" over several charge/discharge cycles, so we'll see what I get out of these. (parenthetically: the fact that I've ripped through 1,000 frames in a week is a bit scary, for me) -Luigi
