I've had good success using the *ist D TTL with a K macro lens. I use the 
Pentax AF400T, firing into a sof' shoulder reflector. The exposures are quite 
good and consistent. I think the reflector makes it a little easier for the TTL 
to respond accurately. You can see an example here:
