Yes, the f/4.0 "compromise" lens is a good but neglected class. About the only one I know of is the Sigma 100-300/4.0. I've heard it's good but it's beyond your focal length range (and price - it's around $900.00) -- Mark Roberts Photography and writing www.robertstech.com
