How dumb can I be

I threw some clothes in the washer last evening.  When the wife took them 
out to put in the dryer, she handed me a 512Mb Lexar CF card that I'd left 
in a pocket.  I was surprised that although the images that were on the card 
were not viewable, after formatting, the card seems to work fine in my *ist 
D.
