I was just tinkering with an ME-II winder which someone on the list had given me because it had a problem. The problem turned out to be simply corrosion. But while working on it I remembered reading stuff like the above, and decided to try it. The winder will mount on an MX. The pins and couplings all line up. BUT!
That big "BUT" is the mechanical couplings. The ME-II winder has a female mechanical coupling The MX winder has a male mechanical coupling. So the answer to that old question is: No the ME-II winder will not work on an MX.
