I've heard that his workshops are good ones. He apparently has a sense of humor, too. His published paper books are some of the best I've read concerning practical, useful information. I'm much farther along in photography than I'd be without his books, even though I'm not a "Nature Only" kind of shooter.

Although, supposedly, because he started out as a teacher (I think), he is one of the better speakers at photo workshops.
