Hi Dave;
On the side with the eject button, between the two alignment
springs, which would make it about '1/3 of the way down' is a
tiny metal tab.
It sticks out about 1mm or less.
It's purpose is to align with the larger of the two slots on
the sides of the CF card to ensure the card is not inserted
the wrong way. (One side of the card has a wide slot, the
other a narrow one.)
IF the card is inserted the wrong way this tab stops it, if
any amount of pressure is exerted on the card this tab will
bend out a bit and prevent the card from fitting either way.
I have fixed this on several customers card readers, it's
pretty common.
IF we are talking about the same tab it's just a matter of
pressing it back a bit toward the button side so it doesn't
stick out quite so far. ('Bending' sounds so crude!) ;-)
Couple of ifs in there but my guess would be that's all it
is.
I don't see how the button could be stuck 'out' if it did
its job of ejecting the card in the first place, but who
knows? The button being stuck out shouldn't stop the card
until it's almost all the way in.

I have a feeling the DS might be a bit disappointing after
owning it's big brother. :-/

HTH
Don
