For my film stuff I have almost no zooms. Even sold the FA 28-70/4 because
it was difficult to use a polarizing filter on it. Good picture quality but
bad feeling in manual mode. Sometimes (seldom) I think I better had stayed
with it.
For events a zoom is quite essential IMO. Addition for the short range to
take landscape pictures may be a 14 ... 16mm prime (will there be a
A16/2.8?), but: are they really such better than a zoom in this range? More
expensive for sure.
I am still waiting for some more results of the Tamron 17-35 2.8-4 though it
isn't that wide ...
The catchiest is the decision ....
BTW: Has the DA 18-55/3.5-5.6 the same extending-barrel design Joseph
Tainter doesn't like on the DA16-45/4 ?

Best,
Bernd

Hi Bernd,
Who wouldn't want a model like her? <g>
The pictures you saw without the focal length info are indeed taken with
K and M lenses. Since they don't have any electronic contacts, the EXIF
doesn't show it.
To be honest, I'm quite happy with the kit lens (i.e. DA18-55/3.5-5.6).
I don't use them often, only for events and studio shots really... I'm
saving money for an A16/2.8 and a K15/3.5.
After buying the DS, I have acquired three zoom lenses for shooting
events organized by my wife: DA18-55, FA28-70/4 and F70-210/4-5.6. I
think that more or less completes the whole range I need for shooting
events. Otherwise, I only use primes.
But I strongly recommend that if you have enough money and you think
that you are going to use the zoom lens a lot, go for the DA16-45/4.

Cheers
Andy
