Un-bloody-believable! That is really Stalinist. Some developers want to build a pair of 165m towers by the river here in Greenwich, pretty much at the end of my street. By current standards they would be the 12th tallest towers in London. The rest of the area is river, mudflats, Victorian terraced housing, bomb sites and boatyards, which all have a certain down-at-heel charm. The developers are motivated by pure greed. The land is worth millions of pounds, so they want to pack as many people onto that space as they possibly can. To sell the properties they will invoke the beauty, history, low population density, charm and maritime connections of the area, all of which they will destroy if they're allowed to build these monstrosities.
