I agree with Peter and Bob.  The plastic hood is a clip-on design,
and can be knocked off without too much trouble.  The old Takumar
hood is a screw-in metal hood, and is much more likely to be of use
for protecting the lens from damage.  (On the other hand, I'd say
that they're both pretty decent for shielding the lens from stray
light.)
