The SMC Pentax K 35/2 is almost the same lens as the yellowing SMC Takumar 35/2. Has anybody ever seen a yellow K lens?
Pentax said the K lens was slighly modified from the Takumar, but diagrams are identical. This could mean they changed the... yellowing element.
Maybe it's the inter-element glue that's discoloured?

On the Takumar lens at least, it must be the lens element itself because UV light has cured such yellowed lenses. Unless UV can "dis-yellow" glue.
