Hi all, The new Agfa Arcus 1200 arrived today. I've taken the opportunity to have a play and I've scanned one of my panoramic slides and put it online at: http://www.digistar.com/~dmann/photography/panoramas/pan2.html The photo was taken using a Mamiya RB67, with a home-made adaptor so the 120 back can take 35mm film (before you ask how it's done, it's a royal pain to use). My first impressions of the scanner aren't too bad. The slide-out trays seem a little fragile and can be a pain to insert, and it does pick up a fair bit of noise from the CCD (this gets filtered well when resizing the image). The driver however looks absolutely fantastic and I'll be playing with a few settings to try and improve things later. The scanner is also very fast (helped by the SCSI-2 interface). It also comes with Photoshop 5.0LE which I haven't even looked at yet, nor have I installed the colour management software. It's sunny outside so I'm going out shooting... Cheers, - Dave David A.
