you can buy a COTS Pentax K to Maxxum adapter at B&H for $36.95. attaching a M42 to K adapter to that is cheap. i notice they also have a Pentax K to M42 adapter too. no telling how good the optics in the adapter is, but i would not expect great. i have a friend who has the Pentax K to Maxxum body adapter but he has not yet shown his pictures taken with my lenses, so i don't know about optical performance of the adapter lens.
