Therefore, I assume that the 300D's cable release would work in the istD, and it's $10 cheaper: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=details_accessories&A=deta ils&Q=&sku=70561&is=REG My husband actually made his own out of an old pair of headphones, a couple of buttons from Radio Shack and a film canister. I like it because the wire fits into the film canister and it's really easy to pack. I can show you pictures if you're interested. Amita
