I paid full release price for my *ist-D; $1695 US, I believe. Then I watched the price tumble by $500 in the next 6 months. But in 1972 I paid 114 pounds sterling for a Spotmatic II & 50mm lens. Convert that to current-day dollars and it was probably more than the *ist-D; it was certainly a much higher percentage of my paycheck.
