...after having visited www.imacon.dk I see you are right, John. Hasselblad
and Imacon really have merged. So, now there's a digital camera manufacturer
in Scandinavia! Digital Vikings, right?

I haven't heard anything about Hasselblad (Sweden) buying Imacon (Denmark),
but then again,
reading financial stuff was never my strong side.
I know, Hassies get nice reviews. Quite expensive, but then again, Imacon
made 10 Mp backs for Leica R8 and R9. And MF Rolleis. So why not Pentax?

I thought Hasselblad took the Remington approach?
(I liked the product so much I bought the company).

I don't know how interested Hasselblad Imacon would be,
at this point, in supplying backs for direct competitors.

Since you mention Hasselblad; have you looked at the specs
for the H1D? 22Megapixel (from a giant 37mm x 49mm sensor),
16 bits per colour component, and even an optional four-frame
multishot mode that makes for 528MB RAW files. It's just as
well that it comes with a built-in 40GB hard drive.

"Targeted at wealthy amateurs as well as professionals",
according to the press release, prices for the H1D start
at around $20,000
