The last part of what Cotty says is the most important one. *You get Mac OS X* After using OS X you won't want to use anything else. You'll find yourself getting things done with your computer, instead of trying to get the computer to do what you want. About the speed of the mini: My main computer is a Powerbook, with a 1GHz G4 (the mini has a 1.4 GHz G4). It works perfectly with everything I've thrown at it--Photoshop, Maya, editing video. I've had it for over a year and don't feel at all the need for anything else. (although a big cinema display would look great in my living room). iPhoto is a bit of a dog though is you have thousands of images.
