Hi all,
Those who are looking for neutral B&W prints from an Epson printer might want to look at Roy Harrington's Quadtone RIP package.
http://www.harrington.com/QuadToneRIP.html
A friend of mine installed it recently and he says it's instantly solved his B&W printing problems. I saw a sample print today and it was pretty good, even under our horrible fluorescent lighting at work. Side-by-side the prints made from the Epson driver were nowhere near neutral.
I've downloaded a copy to try but haven't installed it yet. It seems to be only suitable for B&W printing but considering the price it appears to be extremely good value.
If anyone here has used it I'd appreciate hearing your opinions.
For my own purposes I'll probably end up shelling out for ImagePrint anyway, due to the fact that most of my work is colour. But for the time being I'm getting pretty good results from the Epson driver with Photoshop handling the colour management using the "high quality" profiles downloaded from Epson's website.
Cheers,
- Dave
