I have used my Russian 1000mm mirror lens - the MC MTO-11CA (see http:// www.russianoptics.com/page6.html) and a special sun filter that I had made for the solar eclipse 1999. The MC MTO-11CA is a M42 lens and can be easily attached to the *istD. Focusing is quite difficult as the viewfinder gets very dark using a 1000/10.0 lens. Cheers, Heiko
