I've been carrying digital cameras all over the world since 2002. They're a far sight easier to manage, what with airport xray machines, etc, than film was. The *istD/DS will do a splendid job as they are light, compact, and the lenses are compact as well.
> BTW What would you recommend as a good Mac-compatible scanner? For a film scanner, I use a (now getting old) Minolta Scan Dual II from 2000. It does an excellent job. The current model (Konica Minolta Scan Dual IV) is faster, higher resolution, and costs under $275 in the US. Both Konica MInolta and Nikon make excellent higher-end scanners as well. For flat art and large negatives, I use an (also now ancient) Epson 2450. Extremely good results for the money. One suggestion: I use VueScan to drive all my scanning, I never even install the manufacturers' software. It's the best all around scanning application for Mac OS X in my opinion and drives a huge number of scanners. I would only buy scanners that VueScan can drive.
