the protagonist owns two. Evidentially very nice dog, sweet, but hard to train
-- doesn't do obedience courses well. Likes to get into mischief. But very
smart.
Sled dogs often come with a mindset that they know better than their masters what needs to be done.
If you haven't got a lot of dog experience, don't go there, they can be a bit much for an inexperienced handler.
