Don't be hard on him, Frank.
Rockwellogicitis is an infectious and mentally debilitating disease which impairs the critical faculties, enhances gullibility, and removes the ability to discern right from wrong, truth from untruth, and common sense from bullshit. Physical side-effects include staring eyes and rictus grins, like those of door-to-door evangelists:

Tell-tale signs are constant boasting about how famous/talented/altruistic you are, and the continual proffering, as fact, of statements which are palpably absurd (eg: All pros use fill-flash all the time; RAW mode is useless; etc).
Some people appear to be much more more susceptible to it than others.

There have been people on this list who've had problems with their *istD. As far as I recall, the turn around for repairs/replacement has been a couple of weeks (someone with actual experience, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). That's not bad, really. Is Nikon supporting the D70 any better?
I have no idea why "availability" has anything to do with customer satisfaction. Once one has bought a *istDs, it's available to ~them~, so it's no longer an issue to a user, is it?
cheers, frank
