This seems very odd to me. What could be proprietary in a light metering circuit that has a 5-LED display? I can't imagine what could be in it besides a few op-amps or comparators.
Which will all have been incorporated into one chip, designed to fit into the space available and to have in/outputs in the required places for the layout.
