Hi, I got tired of all the scanning and browsed the web for a while. What I didn't know that apparently De Vere teamed with some electronics manufacturers and they made a digital enlarger (sic!). Basically a classic De Vere with some LCD or whatever instead of the negative, probably with good enough Dmax and also micromotors for enhanced resolution. Projects high resolution image onto classic silver paper... Quite pricey, probably, but interesting!
http://www.bestlab.com/sanmig14.html Myself, I would prefer a completely classical print (from good B&W negative), but for those with high-end digital cameras, it might be interesting (and is, as they seem to have a lot of work). It certainly seems to address the issues with inkjets. Now I know that there are these on PDML who produce good injkets, but I prefer silver :) I will wait until somebody buys it here in Prague though! Did anybody actually had prints made on the thing? I am sure there are many more units in the world than in this one lab. Good light! fra
