As many of you know, I work part-time at a camera shop here in Pittsburgh. We're about a mile up the road from Carnegie-Mellon University, one of the world leaders in robotics research. Today, one of their students came in looking to buy a couple of polarizers or other filters for the camera on one of the robots they're working on. He didn't know what size filter thread he needed so he went back to the university and brought the lens and the arm (or whatever) it is bolted to. It was a Pentax video camera lens! (6mm focal length, if you must know.)
It uses a 43mm filter thread and amazingly enough we actually had a 43m polarizer in stock. Sadly, he needed two of them as they have a stereo imaging setup with dual cameras. -- Mark Roberts Photography and writing www.robertstech.com
