I guess I'm not allowed to answer this anymore. I've started selling framed prints through a small retail outlet so that must make me a professional photographer. I'm also planning to offer scanning, digital retouch and printing services on the side.
Before I set up the business I was just framing photos for my own walls. But then I looked at my big pile of favourite 8x10" prints, and my books of favourite slides, and decided I had to do something with them.
One day I'll do that calendar I've always dreamed about. It won't make money (the market is saturated) but I only want to do it as an ego trip :)
