Since I just mentioned on another thread that I'm going to spend the
weekend with my kids in Kingston, Ontario, I'll also tell you what we
have planned.

Tomorrow we head up to Ottawa (our nation's capital, about 2 hours
north of Kingston) for a day of skating on the Rideau Canal, the
world's longest skating rink (so they say, although Hans Brinker may
have something to say about that...).

I'm absolutely stoked about this. Haven't skated for about two years
(used to play hockey when I was a kid - out on the local rink every
day on the way home from school), but my skates are freshly sharpened,
so I'm raring to go.

Never been on the Rideau Canal, but it'll be weird skating such that I
don't have to turn every 10 seconds or so <g>.

Haven't decided what camera to bring. I was thinking Leica (compact),
but in the crowds something wider might work better, so I'm thinking
the LX with the 24-48 zoom might be very workable, but that's such a
heavy combo - I can put the Leica in my pocket. Mind you, if I bring
the LX, I'll ~have~ to bring the fisheye, right? <vbg>

I've got Tri-X if it's cloudy, Agfa APX 100 if it's sunny.

Plus, I'm bringing some floor wax to wax the big old wooden toboggan
that the kids have, so Sunday we hit the slopes.

Looking like a great weekend (plus, I get to spend it with the kids!)!!!

cheers,
frank
