Thanks Bob! I like the symmetry of the fire too. Looking at the shot now, I can't seem to figure out how I made those patterns I tried tracing the lines and picturing it mentally, but I still can't figure it out.
Ah the vanishing arms.. I attempted to fix that with a long exposure (a second) and a rear curtain sync flash. Enough time to draw a couple of circles, and a flash at the end so I could keep my arms. Couple of problems with using the tripod, framing and maybe having a really messy background too, but overall I like the pic. I'll try my darndest to get a better version though! Hope to see some of your son's poi endeavours sometime too!
