Yep - and from the Leica list I remember this good hint: always shoot from the shadow side - advice by the respected Canadian photographer Ted Grant.

Sure, but that doesn't always make for a good photo.  When that's going on
the photog has to work harder to extract a good image, work more with
angles or lighting or focus.  maybe the shot isn't even the musician, but
his fingers on the guitar ...

That's exactly why some musicians close their eyes. They don't want the
distraction of seeing to dilute the experience.
They're not on stage when they look like that ~ they're in an entirely
different place... usually.
