Thanks, Dave.  They're just some fun shots I took for my friends.  The
other 30 or so that turned out acceptably well, are pretty much more
of the same, just different people (or sometimes the same people)

It happens at least once a race, especially in the later heats, which
are very competitive.  They have to be on a "razor's edge" to win, I
think.

I missed the focus a bit, but you get the idea.  Self-tapping
sheet-metal screws, screwed from the inside of the tire out, then
taped heavily on the inside to prevent puncturing the tube.  Softish
tires (as in low air-pressure) puts as many of the screws in contact
with the ice as possible at any given time.
