Close. Well, close only in the sense that it's a custom/hybrid. It's a "JF 1200". JF stands for "Jake's Frankenstein". Built by two-time WERA Vintage 5 nat'l champion Jake Coye. Vintage 5 is a racing class for big 1980's in-line fours with too much horsepower and bad handling. Think CB 900, GS 1000, KZ1000. Anyway, the JF 1200 consists of: Frame (modified and braced) - Ducati 750 of some sort Engine - Yamaha FJ 1200 (bored out to 1300cc) Swingarm - Kawasaki ZX 11 Rear wheel - Suzuki GSXR 1100 Entire front end - Yamaha R1 Odds and ends: Kehin 40mm flat slide carbs, headlight from a Suzuki GS 1100, Ohlins shocks, Yosh pipe and custom hand-formed aluminum gas tank. Jake had help with the frame from a friend who's an engineer at Delphi automotive (formerly GM Delco). I can report that this bike handles *beautifully* and goes like hell too! -- Mark Roberts Photography and writing www.robertstech.com
