ks> Yes, you can see the difference - but it isn't big.

I still think that there is a difference how lenses "work" on digital
and film. Just ask about the chromatic aberration on FA 2/24*. I have
seen problems on digital with Tokina ATX 20-35/2.8 which was on film a
fine lens. And there are other reports. I am not that much into the
tech of it, but to me it seems there are differences. Also somebody
mentioned that the on film stellar K 2.8/30 doesn't "work" so well on
IstD, and that the M 3.5/28 was better at it.

On the issue of manual focus, I have just played with Gianfranco's
IstD and M 2/35 lens, and it was lovable :-) coming from DSLRs with
crappy finders (Nikons). OTOH Gianfranco made the mistake that he had
LX with series 60 screen (from LX2000) alongside, and the difference
was huge. Still, I would say IstD/IstDS (I believe DS has the same
finder?) are quite usable at manual focus, unlike many other DSLRs.
"Usable" for me is manual focusing at low contrast low light levels
like in a bar. On the D100 & D70, I can't accurately focus even a
1.4/50mm lens manually udner such circumstances!

Good light!
