In Denmark people and companies who work for the authorities (government or
municpality etc.) will only get paid if they can present an electronic
invoice - starting Febrary 1st 2005.
The reason is 1) saving money for administration and 2) avoiding, what we
call "black labour" - that is working without paying income taxes.
Today I wrote my first electronic invoice. I made 20 portraits for a local
authority.
I found a small Danish plug-in for Word, which can make an official looking
invoice. Very nice.
Then I found some software that can make and edit pdf-files - called pdf995.
It's a little complicated
for dummies like me, but it works. It's free if you allow sponsor streamers
on your screen.
And I found a pdf-distiller ("printer") to witch I can "print" a pdf-file
from Word. It's called pdf-camp v2.1
It's very easy - like an adobe acrobat distiller.
So, now I can e-mail an pdf-invoice to the Scanning Facility (not to the
authority). This way people can't avoid the IRS :-(
I must, you see, mention my CPR-number (Social Security Number or) or my
companys identification number (SE-number) in the invoice.
Very clever!

no no - I lived *in* the orchard - except that Adams photographed it 20
years earlier when there was an orchard - now it's full of houses ;-)
