Very nice. It gives a nice homey feel to an otherwise forbidding edifice of Government,
and everything is in focus. (I just had to add that).

It doesn't surprise me that there no armed guards everywhere in Canada, after all you don't
take threats to your Government seriously, so why would anyone bother to threaten it.

Taken a few weeks ago, on my daytrip to Ottawa, Canada's capital city.
After our skate on the Rideau Canal, we walked up to the Parliament
Buildings, to say "hi" to our Prime Minister, but he wasn't in (I
guess he didn't get my message that I might be by) <g>.

As we walked in front of the Parliament Buildings (that's them in the
background, centred by the Peace Tower), I saw this scene:

and thought, "There's something essentially Canadian happening here" <vbg>.

I was thinking of an alternate title like "Our Latest Member of
Parliament", but resisted such taunts at our elected members... <g>

As an aside, I was quite pleasantly surprised at how accessible the
Parliament Buildings are to the public, and the lack of armed guards
all over the place; I hadn't been to see them in decades, and feared
that perhaps in a post 9/11 kneejerk reaction, armed guards might be
surrounding the place or something. Happily, not.

Anyway, back on topic: please feel free to comment - good or bad, yay
or nay - it's all fine with me. Thanks!

cheers,
frank

I can understand why mankind hasn't given up war. During a war you get to drive tanks through the sides of buildings and shoot foreigners - two things that are usually frowned on during peacetime.
