Thanks... you refreshed my memory. That was a component of the problem...
now I remember a little more. I was shooting in Raw and when opening in
Photoshop CS, the raw converter defaulted to Adobe RGB. Later I found that
doing a 'different Save' option gave me a better color rendition. After
that I did the 'Convert Profile' and seemed to be OK.

Are you shooting in adobe RGB? Try going Image -> Mode -> Convert to
profile then select sRGB as the destination before saving for web.
