Thanks Gonz, No, I'm not paranoid about getting exactly 3000ma, I just wanted to get a ballpark figure on what the Pentax adaptor drew so I could get a similar spec. I just think it's ridiculous to spend an extra $50 just to have the word Pentax on a power adaptor.
I suggest that, if Pentax supplies one of 3000mA, then you should be looking for one of _at least_ that capability. The apparatus will draw the current it needs; "too much" will not harm it. If there is "too little" and the PSU is not properly protected, you could end up with meltdown, fire and all the other nasty things electricity is capable of.
