it also depends on if you have spare drives lying around. i have a 30, 40, and 60 that will fit it that are currently just sitting around doing nothing. i upgraded to 80's in my portable computers when they first came out and haven't had a need to upgrade since.

That rather depends on how comfortable you are with hardware.  When I
installed a disk drive in an external USB/FireWire enclosure it took me
under ten minutes.  For a $30 saving that works out to around $200/hour,
in after-tax dollars.  I *wish* my time were worth more than that :-)
