After putting it in, I tried to test the shutter by opening the back, holding down and turning the center of the film advance column, and then shutting the back and cocking the shutter (those familiar with the camera hopefully understand what I am describing. It is the procedure described on page 8 of the 6x7 manual.)
The shutter cocked just fine, but when pressed the shutter button the mirror flew up about 75% of the way and stopped, the shutter seems to be cocked but unfired. The film advance lever will not advance (it acts like it is cocked), the lens is stopped down. Removing the battery, putting the battery in correctly, swearing at it, all have no effect. I tried inserting the 'key' to advance the film counter, but really didn't know how to use it and it too seems to have no effect.
Any idea how to un-jam this thing?
Fortunately there is a guy in Grand Rapids who can fix 6x7's - so I can take it to him this weekend if I can't get it working.
