This hasn't been a harsh winter, but it's been a persistant one (by
Toronto standards), and the older I get, the longer winters seem.

Today we had more snow - that's 3 days in a row now, and the snowbanks
are getting larger (and the slush on the streets is getting thicker).
In what I hope is winter's last gasp, it's going down to -14C tonight
- mid-January temps, not suitable for early March, IMHO.

But, if there's one thing that brightens my spirits this time of year,
it's turning on the sports news and seeing highlights of the first
Major League Baseball exhibition games of the year! Spring Training
doesn't do it for me, but the opening of Grapefruit League sure as
hell does.

Winter's almost over. I can now feel it.

cheers,
frank
