Amita, my Tamron 1.4x works as expected on the 28-75 Tamron 2.8 and *ist-D. Both Auto and Manual focus work fine. My Tamron 2x MC7 WON'T FIT the 28-75! The lens won't go deep enough into the converter to twist and lock. Don't know why. (Yet) I think the PowerZoom contacts interfere. The MC7 has the same straight thru linkage as the 1.4x though. I suspect if the lens would lock it would work just like the 1.4x.
