Subject: speaking of good lenses...

The repair technician called me today ... He was able to fix
both the A50/1.7 and the A70-210/4 Macro that I bought from Ebay
auctions, within the budget I gave him. And he did a CLA on the
beautiful M85/2 I bought for $60: now the focusing ring operates
smoothly and with a reasonable amount of force, also within
budget.

*And* he had them all ready in 4 days! Can't beat that. :-)

He told me he put the 70-210 on his collimator and found that
the focus shift from min to max zoom setting is zero. Surprised
him, they almost always shift a little bit. He liked this lens a
lot ... Said the construction was second to none, in his
experience.

Nice.
All swell lenses, well worth repairing.
I don't get it though.
Why don't they make a 70-210 or something similar f/4 constant aperture zoom anymore?
