Well that's stooopid. Searching on portable storage devices brings up all
sorts of stuff I don't want, including music players, things with screens
to view photos (only displaying JPEG's).

OK, let's try this: I want a small package that has a hard drive in it
(20GB seems sufficient, so maybe 40GB is best) and slots for various types
of cards and allows for a USB 2.0 connection to download the info to the
computer. Any recommendations or suggestions of products to stay away
from.

I think it's totally stupid too. I thought it was stoopid when I was looking
for one about a year ago.

The Epson P-2000 is really the way to go, but it doesn't support Pentax RAW
right now. Either harp on Epson and see when they are going to support it or go
with a FlashTrax. Those were the two most recommended at the workshops I went
to. But the Epson P-2000 is beating the competition hands down because it has
a nice big screen where you can verify your photos were copied and even
review them. You can also play slideshows with music out in the field. I saw
one,
it is very, very nice -- it really has a nice screen. It is also about $500.
But it is very, very nice. I'd go with it now if I could afford it.

Sure, avoid JOBO. And avoid a stand alone DVD writer on the whole. It's a
nice idea, but in the field it simply takes too long. Other devices write much
faster and sometimes speed is very important.
