I have one of both. I have used the DS almost exclusively recently to get used to it. The only drawback(s) of the DS are that some controls are buried in menus as opposed to explicit buttons on the D. The only one of these that bothers me is that I have to switch metering modes in a menu, which is a nuisance for me since I like to use a spot meter. Given the difference in price, however, I would get the DS and a lens or save the money for a possible better DSLR from Pentax. (See other Thread.)
