The Voigtlander Macro APO Lanthar 125mm f2.5 SL compares favourably with the Pentax A100f2.8 Macro, in fact from my informal tests I would say it's sharper and it definitely renders a nicer smoother bokeh. The build is good but it's an entirely different design from the Pentax lens and much more retro in appearance. The front lens element is placed very close to the front of the lens, more like the PKA*200f4 Macro however it's not without protection as the metal hood bayonets to the front of the lens. It also ships with a plastic hood cap which fits over the hood so the hood can be left on with the lens capped. The lens is quite short at infinity as it's barrel consists of three telescopic sections, the focus ring is smooth and rotates through around 720 degrees stop to stop. The focus and aperture rings also rotate the same direction as the Pentax lenses which is great. I have had no problems with the auto aperture and either a Super A, Super Program, MZ-3 or MZ-S.
