The long 'save time' is related to a quick number of shots in succession, in which case the buffer fills and needs to be processed and saved. This is assuredly the case case if your shots are typically exposures lasting just fractions of a second.

With longer exposures the delay is more amplified. I find that on night shots I've taken with noise reduction on, a second 'dark frame' and processing seems to take about the same time as the original exposure.
