Just trying to help! But how about this: when you want to buy a piece of gear, "let" your significant other buy something he/she wants for about the same price. Nate and I do this and it works beautifully; I'll nudge him to buy something he wants just so I can justify doing the same. We call it Mutually Assured Destruction. :)
