Just a quick update guys and gals!
Thanks so much for all your advice! On Friday I went on a bit of a splurge - I was supposed to buy another camera body but blew my money at Officeworks instead! hehe. I came home with an Acer 19" LCD screen, a thumpin' 80watts speaker system with built in amp and huuuuge subwoofer (I need to doof doof! whilst I'm workin', hehe), Wireless router, wireless pcmcia card, and usb wireless adapter for my downstairs PC, Graphire 3 graphics tablet, an extra 512mb RAM, and a few other bits and pieces. All in all, a very productive day! hehe. Monitor was a bit scary at first seeing all of my work looking so terrible. But, I have now got the brightness/contrast adjustments pretty accurate and I'm having good results (and no wobble at night time! lol) Planning on buying a new video card and using a dual monitor set-up for editing with my old 17" CRT. The kids are having a ball with the wireless network! I have set them up with their own hotmail accounts and whilst they were downstairs watching DVDs, I msn messengered them! The "ding!" immediately got their attention, and I started chatting to them - I told them that I was Easter Bunny and that I was watching their move and that they'd better clean up their toy room (which is where their PC/DVD/TV/Xbox etc are all set up), or else there'll be no surprises come Easter morning. It was so cute sitting here listening to Jaimyn reading it to Keegan (Keegan only started school this year and can't read that well yet), and then walking downstairs to find them madly cleaning their toy room! lol. So anyways, thanks so much for all of your help with the monitor and network questions that I posed! BUT, (there's always one isn't there? lol), I'm now having trouble installing my graphics tablet. I have a cordless mouse/keyboard setup which uses a receiver that plugs into the PS2 ports for them both. Anyways, the graphire 3 tablet is USB, but I have this weird phenomena happening that everytime I plug it into the USB port, it shuts my puter down! I can't see how their could be any IRQ conflicts etc as one is USB and the other using PS2 but my knowledge is pretty limited in that respect. Any suggestions guys? I'm dying to get started with it! The instructions say to plug in/install the USB cable before you install the software, so I just can't think of any other way around it? Saving up again now, for that MUCH needed camera body and another flash gun, I've had two die on me in just as many weeks! Something like Isolation Transformer / Cap used in audio? Big one ;-) A lot of modern appliances have so bad power supplies today :-( Good light! fra
